Borrowing Rules

The library is partitioned for the benefit of readers, borrowers, and users who study or do work.

Open-Shelf Literature Area Borrowing and Reading Rules

1Library users can handle borrowing and reading formalities at the self-service borrowing and returning stations in the hall on the second floor and at the general information desk with a valid campus ID card (school user) or reader card (off-campus user). Books with attachments (such as CDs) should be handled at the general information desk.

2Teaching and administrative staff can borrow 10 books at a time and keep them for 180 days; students can borrow 6 books and keep them for 90 days; off-campus readers can borrow 2 books and keep them for 90 days.

3All borrowed books shall be returned within a prescribed period. The overdue penalty fee is 0.10 yuan/book each day.

4Promptly report the loss of a school ID card or reader card. Any consequences caused by the loss of these cards without a timely report shall be borne by the card owner.

Western Language Books, Newspapers and Reference Books Area Borrowing and Reading Rules

1Books, newspapers and periodicals in this area are available for open-shelf reading within the library. They cannot be borrowed out. After reading, place the items on the reading table.

2Please take good care of the books, periodicals and newspapers in this section. Do not fold, tear, paint, draw or otherwise damage any library property. Offenders shall pay for damages in accordance with the library rules.

Stack Book Reading Rules

1Any books related to dictionaries (such as dictionary, lexicon, pharmacopoeia, etc.) must be read within the library and cannot be borrowed out.

2Dictionaries, lexicons, and materials dealing with the origins of words and phrases shall be read within the library and never borrowed out.

3All kinds of manuals shall be read within the library and cannot be borrowed out.

4All kinds of yearbooks shall be read within the library and cannot be borrowed out.

5All reference books shall be read within the library and cannot be borrowed out.

Book Renewal Rules

Login to the library homepage at (http://58.132.133.130/) (or login to the school’s home page at http://www.dky.bjedu.cn/ → click "Library" in the upper right corner of the page →enter a valid user name and password in the file field of “My Library” in the upper left corner → enter personal interface and click “Borrowing Information”, then click the “Renewal” button. Click OK. The user name is the user card number, and the password is the last six numbers of card-holder’s birthday.

Those who bring books, periodicals, or newspapers out of the library without permission will be subject to punishment. For a first offence, the user will receive a warning and be made aware of the library rules. For a second offence, the user will write an examination and be suspended from borrowing for three months. In case of a cumulative three offences, the user will be sent to the security department for treatment. Losing, staining or damaging of books, periodicals, or newspapers shall be treated according to the library regulations.

Before library users leave school (for internship, graduation, dropout, suspension, retirement, etc.) they must first return all books and borrowed materials and cancel their library ID card (school readers) at the information desk.
