Beijing Polytechnic Library can trace its history back to the year of 1958. Beijing Polytechnic New Library was set up inside the Vocational Education Park, Liangshuihe First Street, Beijing Economic & Technological Development Area in 2012 and was put into formal operation on September 9, 2013. In December 2012, the Information Center of Beijing Economic & Technological Development Area was officially listed and put into operation at Beijing Polytechnic Library. Relying on Beijing Polytechnic Library, the Information Center provides enterprises and communities inside the Development Area with information services. On October 27, 2015, relying on Beijing Polytechnic Library, the Public Library of Beijing Economic & Technological Development Area was officially listed and put into operation, to provide enterprises and residents with overall opening services.

The Library features beautiful environment, complete facilities, abundant resources and perfect functions. The Library covers an area of 22,000m2 and is divided into six floors, one underground and five aboveground. Now it has a collection of nearly 1.08 million paper books, over 1.4 million foreign and Chinese e-books, over 850 kinds of foreign and Chinese paper periodicals, as well as over various 30 databases. It has over 1,300 reading seats, and over 300 computers. Inside the Library, there are functional areas such as Lecture Hall, Meeting Room, Teachers’ Reading Room, Training Room, Lab, Audiovisual Room, Multimedia Learning Center, Video Data Room, One-stop Study Area, General Reading Area, Periodicals and Reference Books Reading Area, Compact Stacks, Self-help Internet Area, Leisure Area and Bag Depository. It can provide self-service book borrowing and return, as well as self-service literature copying services, to satisfy each reader’s demands. WiFi is available everywhere in the Library, convenient for acquiring literature information resources.

 “Resource sharing, open management and one-stop service” is the Library’s operation purpose. All registered readers of the Library can use the library’s literatures, and enjoy book borrowing services with their valid one-cards. Readers can look up literature collections, retrieve databases, browse electronic publications and learn various information of the Library by visiting its website. The Library provides readers engaged in various professional scientific research jobs with information services such as information briefing, original text delivery, agent inspection and special subject literature consulting; provides various readers with training services concerning database resource utilization, relevant professional software utilization, information literary, etc.; and holds various cultural and educational lectures.
