Articles of Association of Library Working Committee of Beijing Polytechnic
Chapter One General Provisions
Article 1: The library of Beijing Polytechnic is the school’s literature information center, an institution serving teaching and scientific research, and is an important base of school information sharing and social enrichment. Construction of the library shall be suitable to the construction and development of the school, and its presence is an important symbol of the overall school. The Library Working Committee of Beijing Polytechnic (heretofore: The Library Committee) is specially established according to regulation in article 9 of The Regulations of the General Higher Academy Library issued by Chinese Ministry of Education on February 21, 2002, and abides by the following articles.
Article 2: The Library Committee is the guiding and decision-making institution for the whole school’s literature information and library construction work under the leadership of the responsible principal.
Chapter Two Organizational Structure
Article 3 : The Library Committee is composed of the school library leaders, leaders in charge of education, teaching, and scientific research, as well as heads of library-related departments.
Article 4: The Library Committee shall set one committee director, held by a competent principal of the school; a deputy director, held by a library director; two committee secretaries, held by a library office director and resource construction department director; and several members, composed of persons from teaching, and scientific research departments.
Article 5: Members of The Library Committee are nominated and recommended by the library and the secondary colleges, and submitted to the director members of school library working committee for employment.
Article 6: A single term for any member of The Library Committee is three years, with adjustments made in accordance with changes of working positions of members within his/her respective term.
Chapter Three Working System
Article 7: The committee shall hold one plenary meeting each school year, with additional plenary meetings or partial-member meetings held in special circumstances by the director and deputy director as needed.
Article 8: Routine work of The Library Committee shall be implemented by the library office and resource construction department.
Chapter Four Main Responsibilities
Article 9: The Library Committee’s responsibilities include research and study on the library’s overall development, development planning, library literature collection development policy, literature information service work, review of the library’s annual major works, decision-making, and supervising execution of annual work. Additionally, The Library Committee shall provide professional guidance for development of literature information resources and information service work, and promote information resource integration between colleges, departments, and within the library.
Article 10: The Library Committee members shall hold work meetings according to the development of the library, and review annual special development projects such as library literature and digital resources.
Article 11: The Library Committee members shall work to the best of their abilities, take initiatives to reflect the school and library, put forward proposals, play the role of consulting, actively coordinate and strengthen connection and communication between each secondary college, other functional departments, and the library, and promote innovation and development of the library's literature information services.
